Sun, February 26, 2006 - 8:23 PMum, don't get me wrong... i think that guy deserved a tv special without a doubt, and should have got a medal 60 years ago
BUT what does it have to do with the Olympics? other than the very tangential relationship that the olympics are in Italy and he fought in Italy?
meantime, I'm gald there is an ACTUAL event to watch..... 50K men's X-country race ends the games -

Mon, February 27, 2006 - 7:32 AMsigh.... i was so BEAT from being up the night before and getting only 4 hours sleep that I couldn't even watch the end.... i fell asleep on my couch at ab out 9.15 pm and woke up after 11 : (
final thoughts on Bode Miller though, having watched an interview with Tom Brokaw and pondered his comments?
Yeah he's money whore for Nike... but that's not unusual in atheletics.... he's snotty, got some attitude on him... also far from unusual for a famous athelete...
seems the main reason people don't like him is, he didn't win... and he didn't win because he "didn't work hard enough" seems to me he trained and prepared (or didn't prepare, if you like to say it that way) the same way he always has for all his other races... he stayed up and partied and played basketball etc, before his races, and he's always done that too... nothing about him or what he did changed, only the outcome did...he lost.... he acted and lived and prepared the same way in the past and won the world cup.... noone had a problem with his "lack of desire" then
as he said, he could have prepared and trained and done everything perfectly, and still lost
all he's really failed at is in upholding that good old American Protestant work ethic... if you don't work, if you don't work your fingers to the bone, you are nothing... you are worthless... a bad bad ungrateful boy...
hmmmmmmmmmmmm
